Biodata: Born in Eastern Tibet in 1934, Rinpoche spent many years meditating in caves in Central Tibet under the guidance of the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, and then in India studying Buddhist philosophy with the most learned Tibetan scholars. Thus he became proficient in the philosophical teachings of all the main lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche has guided the education of many of the Kagyu
lineage's young incarnate lamas. He has many students of Buddhism both
in the East and the West and travels the world giving teachings regularly
in Nepal, the Far East, America and Europe. He has established the Marpa
Institute for Translation in Nepal, and directs the translation of texts
on philosophy and meditation, as well as songs sung by the realised masters
of the past. |

| MAHAMUDRA AND DOHA
SONGS 21 November 1998 6 tapes Mahamudra means great seal, symbol, or gesture, referring to the fact that there is nothing greater than the state of Mahamudra. It is the meditative transmission handed down especially by the Kagyu lineage, from Vajradhara to Tilopa and then up to the present lineage holders. Dohas are spontaneous songs of experience and realisation. They often
contain the essential instructions for meditative practice and are of
great inspirational value for practitioners. |
