Meditation Classes

Sundays are from 11am to 1pm
(every third Sunday includes an all day session)

Wednesdays 7.30pm to 9.00 pm
The meditation program introduces basic practice of shamatha meditation between 7.30pm and 8pm. This is followed by a guided discussion and study of 'Benevolent Mind' (Ven Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche) between 8 and 9pm. Enquires at the office for your copy of this text.

Classes are from 7.30 to 9.00pm.
All sessions are suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

These sessions have a one-off initial charge of $5 for people attending meditation over the year 2005.

The meditation program introduces basic meditation ( a combination of sitting and walking meditation) which includes a brief discussion of topics which assist a meditator to integrate practice and daily life.

Each Sunday, meditation includes one of the 59 slogans on the Seven Points of Mind Training - attributed to the great Indian Buddhist teacher Atisha Dipankara Shrijnana, who was born of royal heritage in Bengal in 982 C.E.

Atisha's teachings on mind training are now practiced by all the major lineages of tibetan Buddhism, and have been for centuries. They provide summary instructions on the view and practical application of mahayana Buddhism. The study and practice of these slogans is a very practical and earthy way of reversing our ego-clinging and of cultivating tenderness and compassion. They provide a method of training our minds through both formal meditation practice and using the events of everyday life as a means of awakening.

Nyintuns

A program of Nyintuns or ‘Day of Practice’ takes place every third Sunday of the month for those who want longer periods of sitting. These more intense sessions provide the opportunity to settle the mind as well as exposing us to the many facets of our psychological makeup which may otherwise go unnoticed.

Dates for 2005:

February 20, March 20, April 17

Times:

9.00am - 12.30pm, and 2.00pm - 5.30pm.
