The Ox Herding Pictures

The Ox Herding Pictures are among Buddhism's most familiar artistic images. They describe, in profound yet very simple ways the spiritual journey from its beginnings up to the point of enlightenment and beyond.
Over this four week course, Soto Zen teacher Ekai Korematsu will describe these sometimes enigmatic images and discuss their significance for meditation practice.

The classes will include Hatha Yoga Asanas (physical postures), and Kym Nye (Tibetan Yoga), relaxation techniques and meditation. The primary focus of these classes is to create a conducive inner environment for meditation. The classes are also designed to energise the body and relax the mind to assist in the development of meditative concentration and a general sense of well-being. Please bring a blanket and wear stretchy or loose clothing.

Khenpo-la will provide a precise presentation on the four causes to gain birth in Dewachen the pure realm of Buddha Amitabha. Khenpo has written this text after researching various texts and commentaries including the Sutra of Radiance which is a detailed description of Amitabha and his pure realm.

Buddhist Existentialism – The Journey to Crazy Joy

This course is loosely based on Dr Miller’s new book, Buddhist Existentialism, recently published by Shogam Publications. The course will provide an overview of key concepts of existentialism and Buddhism. It will also cover new angles not explored in the book, including themes relating to death, joy, and practice, to make the approach more effective. There will be time for Q &A discussion. Topics: Week 1: Emptiness. 2: Re-enchanting Life. 3. Re-enchanting Death. 4: Practicing Joy.

This month long Buddhist meditation retreat will be led by Traleg Rinpoche who will give traditional teachings on Buddhist meditation and philosophy. This month long retreat is suitable for all levels of students and a wonderful opportunity to deepen one’s practice. The retreat program includes teachings by Traleg Rinpoche, yoga and pranayama sessions, chanting and singing, shamatha meditation sessions, walking meditation in the beautiful bush setting of the retreat, and the traditional ritual practices of Green Tara and Chenrezig Pujas.

Pre Registration and a deposit of $150 are required from participants in order to secure a place in the retreat.
