**Mindfulness and Psychotherapy Conference October 23 - 28, Maitripa Centre.


Located in the beautiful Upper Yarra Valley, six and a half kilometers from Healesville, the Maitripa Centre (MC) is an hour an a quarter easy drive from Melbourne CBD. Accommodating up to 80 people, it is an ideal facility for group and individual retreats.

Set in 50 acres of forest and gardens established early in the twentieth century, 'Maitripa' is best suited for groups of up to 80 people. There are fifty bedrooms (some double), a separate teacher's suite, two large meditation/conference rooms, three smaller lounges, a large dining room, fully equipped commercial kitchen, beautiful gardens and walks, breathtaking vistas and ample parking. Accommodation

  • The tariff of $28 per person per night, (self-catering), means Maitripa is very affordable.
  • Serious practitioners are welcome for brief individual retreats.
  • Members of Kagyu E-Vam Buddhist Institute receive discount rates.
  • Groups of 40+ are offered a special discount of 10-15%.

Staying at Maitripa

What to bring

Accommodation at Maitripa is basic but clean. Bathrooms are shared. You will need to bring your own bed linen, plus doona or sleeping bag, pillow, towel and a torch (optional). The weather at Healesville can be very changeable so please bring warm clothing and warm bedding. Some bedrooms are unheated and overnight temperatures can be very low regardless of the season.

If you plan to go for walks during your stay we advise you bring strong walking shoes. It is best to walk with a companion. Please ensure that you advise management of the direction in which you are walking and your anticipated return time. For emergencies call 0430 059 286/9380 8764. The answering machine is checked twice daily.

What to do on arrival

  • You need to formally check in at the office which is in the middle of the complex to inform management of your arrival.
  • If the office is unattended there will be a room allocation map on the office window. Please proceed to your room and formally check in when the office reopens.
